POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (March 27, 2018) – Chris Dyson’s Mustang will have a new look this weekend at Road Atlanta, the second round of the 2018 Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli. Today, Plaid, a global leader in the manufacture, distribution and sales of creative do-it-yourself craft products, announced a season-long primary branding arrangement in support of Dyson’s quest to capture the series season championship.
The announcement was made by Mike McCooey, President and CEO of Plaid Enterprises, Inc.
“All of us at Plaid pride ourselves in outperforming our customers’ expectations, and we are pleased to now be affiliated with Chris Dyson, a championship-winning driver who shares that philosophy,” McCooey said. “We are confident our engagement with Chris and CD Racing will help us reach new customers and reinforce the performance image of our brand.”
Dyson, who earlier this month finished a very close second place in the series opening race at Sebring, FL, expressed his and his team’s commitment to helping Plaid reach its goals.
“All of us at CD Racing are pleased to be working with Plaid, helping the company promote the brand and its products over the course of the season,” Dyson said. “I’m pleased we could announce this partnership in conjunction with the Trans Am race in Plaid’s own Atlanta backyard. It’s an extra incentive for us to win this weekend’s race.”
“One of the aspects of the Trans Am series that makes it attractive to Plaid is that while the cars incorporate components from specialty vendors, they are constructed by individuals, with teams expressing their own craftsmanship and reflecting the builder’s personal vision,” said (Debbie Henley or Jon Bogle, TITLE). “There is a strong parallel to how our customers express their creativity through crafting. We look forward to leveraging our alignment with CD Racing’s championship campaign to reach new customers and to drive customer engagement and brand loyalty.”
Practice and qualifying for the Road Atlanta round of the Trans Am Championship takes place on Friday, March 30. The race, 40 laps (101.6 miles) takes the green flag at 2:55 p.m. Saturday.
About Plaid
Headquartered in Atlanta, Plaid Enterprises, Inc. is one of the world’s largest, most diverse manufacturers of creative do-it-yourself products. Plaid’s product innovation and dedication to the ever-changing needs of consumers have made the Plaid family of products among the most recognized and desired brands worldwide.
Founded in 1976, Plaid’s first product category was how-to publishing covering the hottest crafts of the era – macramé, beading, decoupage and decorative painting. The company soon expanded to manufacture the products called for in how-to books. Paint was one of the first products targeted, and production began in consultation with leading decorative artists. Today, Plaid is the industry’s leading small batch paint manufacturer, producing all USA-made paint in facilities located outside of Atlanta, GA.
The company continued to evolve with the craft industry, developing products in tune with trends—stenciling, faux finishes, fashion, glass crafts—reaching out to new artists and markets, including home improvement. Plaid was also the first craft company to sell products on television via infomercials and home shopping channels.
Notable brands in Plaid’s portfolio include FolkArt®, Gallery Glass®, One Stroke™, and one of the industry’s best known, Mod Podge®, a favorite since 1967. In 1996, Bucilla, the nation’s needlecrafts leader, was added to the Plaid fold.
