WATKINS GLEN TRANS AM PODIUM FOR DYSON; KICERA WINS TA2 UNDER CONCORD AMERICAN FLAGPOLE BANNER

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (July 14, 2025) – A dominating performance winning the pole Sunday morning at Watkins Glen promised a rewarding race for Chris Dyson and his #16 GYM WEED Ford Mustang in the afternoon’s Trans Am 100-mile sprint race. But high ambient temperatures produced sharply changed track conditions and Dyson fought an ill-handling car on his way to a third-place finish behind Paul Menard and Adam Andretti.

“Congratulations to Paul and Adam, who had a great battle all afternoon,” Dyson said following the race. “I’m sorry I couldn’t challenge them for this win, but we just didn’t have the car for it in the heat of the afternoon. We just had too much understeer to get off the corners as fast as we needed. We always set up the car to be at its strongest at the end of the race and I hoped the car would be more neutral the last 10 or 15 laps so with a caution we’d be back in the thick of the battle for the win. But that didn’t happen.”

It was a short afternoon for Dyson’s CD Racing teammate, Humaid Masaood. His #21 GYM WEED Ford Mustang retired with mechanical problems early in the race.

Kicera Takes TA2 Win for Concord American Flagpole

Tyler Kicera won the TA2 race in his first start under the Concord American Flagpole banner. Kicera, whose last season as a full-time TA2 competitor was in 2022, was making his first start of the season at the Glen. Kicera, who has been doing a lot of driver coaching, on Saturday afternoon showed how it was done, methodically working his way from his fifth starting position toward the lead. Initially it appeared the veteran racer had run out of laps, completing the race second position. But when the first car under the checkered flag was disqualified for non-compliance with technical regulations Kicera was declared the winner.

“Thanks to Concord American Flagpole for getting me into the race,” Kicera said. “And thanks to Chris Dyson for his help.”

Kicera demonstrated his winning speed by taking the Omologato Watches Fastest Lap of the Race award.

Canadian Tire Motorsport Park Next On Trans Am Calendar

The Trans Am by Pirelli series has a six-week break before returning to action August 28-30 at the challenging Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, located an hour east of Toronto. The legendary circuit, formerly known as Mosport Park, has figured prominently in the history of Dyson Racing. After a long absence from the Trans Am calendar, CTMP returned last season. Dyson finished second following a front-row start.
