POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (February 24, 2022) – 2021 Trans Am by Pirelli champion Chris Dyson begins his quest for a second consecutive title this weekend at Sebring International Raceway. Dyson, who won seven of the ten races he entered while leading Ford to the series’ manufacturer championship, will feature branding on his #20 Ford Mustang from GYM WEED, a hemp-infused energy drink developed by partner ALTWELL.
“Winning the championship last year was a high point in my racing career,” Dyson said. “It means so much to have my name added to the list of champions in America’s longest running road-racing series. So many of the series drivers were ones I revered growing up – Parnelli Jones, Mark Donohue, Tommy Kendall, Greg Pickett, Willy T. Ribbs and Dorsey Schroeder – all made their marks in the Trans Am.”
Dyson attributed CD Racing’s dominating 2021 performance last season to three factors. “It took a couple seasons but everything came together last year – we had great reliability, the entire team maintained a superior level of focus and everyone’s race weekend execution was exceptional. We aim to maintain all of that this season, which we will have to do if we want to win the championship again. Tomy Drissi (2021 series’ runner-up) is returning full-time and with drivers like Boris Said and Paul Menard and Justin Marks rejoining the series, I expect the racing will be even more competitive this year.”
Dyson was encouraged with the team’s performance in pre-season testing a few weeks ago. “It felt like I’d hardly been out of the car,” he said. “One out lap and then everything felt great. I also have high praise for the new Pirelli 18-inch tires we’ll be racing on this season. They are a terrific step forward overall and I expect they will contribute to the excellent racing we’ll see this year.”

Masaood Returns For Third Trans Am Season With CD Racing
UK-based Humaid Masaood is back for a third season as Dyson’s CD Racing teammate. His #21 Ford Mustang will sport the livery of allgram, a decentralized, peer-to-peer (P2P) secure communication platform.
Masaood appeared in four Trans Am races with CD Racing in 2022, scoring podiums at Sonoma and Laguna Seca. In his last appearance at Sebring, in 2020, he claimed a fourth-place finish.
“Travel issues related to the Covid pandemic meant I wasn’t able to race in the Trans Am as regularly as I wished last year,” Masaood noted. “But that situation is much better now and I am looking forward to racing a lot, representing allgram. I’ve got a fast car and a great team. I’m looking forward to some good results.”

In addition to the initial airing, each episode will be re-air once on CBS Sports network in the weeks following the premiere. All episodes and content will be available on the CBS Sports Network on cable and satellite, as well as CBSSports.com and streaming service subscriptions that include CBS Sports Network content, such as Hulu and YouTube TV.
The first TA races airing will on CBS Sports Network be broadcast on Sunday, March 6 at 10:30 a.m. ET.
