CHRIS DYSON CONCLUDES TRANS AM CHAMPIONSHIP-WINNING SEASON THIS WEEKEND AT COTA

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (November 3, 2021) – The winner of seven of the 10 races run to date this season, Chris Dyson has already clinched the 2021 Trans Am by Pirelli National Championship. How will that change his approach when he climbs aboard his #20 ALTWELL CBD Ford Mustang for Sunday’s season-ending Heacock Classic for Trans Am? Not an iota!

“Its great to know we’ve won the championship – it means the world to me,” Dyson said. “But there’s no reason to deviate from what brought us our first win of the year when the season opened at Sebring more than eight months ago. Together, the team and I decided we’d focus on bringing our very best effort to each race on the calendar as it came. If we do that, the championship will take care of itself. And it did.”

Dyson came into the penultimate race at Virginia International Raceway with a big point lead. He could have played it safe and still taken the title with a top-five finish. “Every race we took the car out of the transporter aiming to win the race,” he said. “That was how it was at VIR and we won our third race in a row. And I can tell you its way more satisfying to win a championship that way than to run on cruise control just looking to finish.”

Dyson said he’s looking forward to one more race this year against the first-class competition he’s faced all season. “Tomy (Drissi) has been absolutely at the top of his game all season. Ernie (Francis, Jr.) is super-talented and looking forward to a long career. Boris (Said) might be pushing 60, but every time he gets into a race car he brings it all. And there are another five drivers who have the talent and equipment to win.

“I look forward to racing hard against all of these excellent drivers this weekend with the same enthusiasm as I have every weekend before,” Dyson said. “We’re going for our fourth straight win. But when the green flag waves there will be a dozen drivers looking to end their season with a win.”

Masaood Returns for COTA

Following a several-race absence from the series due to business commitments and Covid-related travel restrictions from his home in London, England, Humaid Masaood rejoins the series in his #21 Amamos La Vida Tequila Ford Mustang for the final race of the season. Masaood looks to pick up where he left off, with a pair of second-place finishes at the Sonoma round of the Trans Am West series and the Laguna Seca round of the National Series.

“I’m eager to get back in the car and finish the season on a high note,” Masaood said.
